Social engagement
We care about people, the environment and our society. Ecological and social aspects are just as important as economical aspects. That is why we are in a constant dialogue with our environment and work as sustainably as possible. We are committed to creating a better society.
Dialogue with the environment
We are not only part of Maasvlakte 2 and the port of Rotterdam, but also a part of the Netherlands. We look beyond the boundaries of the port and continuously seek a dialogue with local residents, city councils, interest groups and companies.
Sustainable operation
We believe that today's investments should never be at the expense of tomorrow's quality of life. We do everything to keep CO2 emissions to a minimum. Our cranes and vehicles are electrically operated and where possible we generate our own energy. Behind all of this is our commitment to work as sustainably as possible and to reduce the impact on the environment and society.
Charities and collaborations
Together with our employees we support both local and national initiatives and activities. Please read below more about our charities and collaborations.

S.V. GIO
We support the foundation S.V. GIO, the sports and learning club of Giovanni van Bronckhorst and his wife Marieke. The foundation helps children in groups 7 and 8 with math and/or language problems by building their self-confidence and self-awareness. The sponsorship amount that we annually donate to the foundation is used to finance the learning process of children and to realize new classrooms. Furthermore, our employees volunteer as mentors and coaches. The purpose of the multi-year collaboration is to show the children the port and give them an insight into working at the port and RWG in particular. A few times a year we organize a study visit to RWG where the children have a tour of the terminal and are told about the work of RWG.

The Rotterdam terminals ECT, APMT and RWG together with the Port Authority will adapt the goal of this campaign. In the past, volunteers took on projects such as removing plastic from the edges of the banks of the Nieuwe Maas, cleaning the dune valley at Landgoed Mildenburg and planting shrubs to protect the bird valley in the Second Maasvlakte.
